Day 1: 7-Day Spring Detox

Detox: Day One!! There have been lots of great questions coming my way regarding the Spring Detox so here are the answers to a few of the most common queries…

Q: Can I drink tea on this cleanse?
A: You can substitute one cup of black tea instead of the daily cup of coffee. Feel free to enjoy unlimited amounts of green and herbal tea while detoxing.
Q: What protein powders are detox-friendly?
A: Dairy is off limits during the detox so all whey-based protein should be eliminated. Stick to vegan protein powders that are only sweetened with stevia. Vega is 100% detox-approved. (If you have a different type of protein in your cupboard send me an email with the brand and flavour & I’d be happy to research the ingredients for you…)

Q: Where can I buy green juice?
A: Greenhouse Juice Co (located at 5 Macpherson Avenue) is the official juice sponsor of the Catalyst Spring Detox (check your detox package for a 15% off discount card). They offer 3 green juices which are all approved for this cleanse (The Good, East of Eden and The Giver). Greenhouse will be hosting a small sampling after tonight’s pilates class so feel free to stop by and find your fave! You can also find green juices at Fresh, Freshii, Rawlicious, BeNourished, The Big Carrot, etc.. Be sure to read the ingredients list before purchasing juice to ensure that all ingredients are allowed. (OR make your own at home in a juicer or high speed blender - see recipe inside detox handout)

The first few days of any detox are always the most difficult. Fatigue, irritability and headaches are all common, especially when eliminating addictive substances such as caffeine and sugar. The most important thing is to stick with it. By day 3 all of these symptoms should dissipate: cravings should be gone, energy should be up and you should be feeling amazing. Good luck!!!
